Citizens for the Charles County Public Library, Inc. 

Citizens for the Charles County Public Library, Inc. (C4CCPL) is a non-profit, all volunteer group dedicated to expand public awareness and support for the Charles County, Maryland, Public Library system. 

Our chief fund-raising activity is the operation of the C4CCPL Used-Book Store, located on the lower level of the La Plata Branch Library,  2 Garrett Avenue, La Plata MD 20646
The Used-Book Store is normally open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM 
every Saturday that the library is open. 

When you come to visit, bring your donations with you! 
We accept hardcover and paperback books, books-on-tape, books-on-CD, music CDs and cassettes, and movies on DVD and VHS videotape.
Volunteers will assist you with heavy bags or boxes.
Donations are $$TAX DEDUCTIBLE $$!
If you would like a tax receipt, please count how many of each category  (paperbacks, hardbacks, DVDs, etc) you have brought for donation. 
Park your vehicle in the lower driveway, ring the doorbell and we’ll provide a cart and volunteer to assist you.

WHO WE ARE

Citizens for the Charles County Public Library, Inc. (C4CCPL) is a non-profit, all volunteer group dedicated to expand public awareness and support for the Charles County, Maryland, Public Library system. With membership support from the community, we assist the library in many of its endeavors. C4CCPL sponsors activities, raises funds, and promotes the library as a cultural, educational, informational and recreational asset to Southern Maryland. The funds raised by our activities help supplement the library's budget by purchasing items not included in their operating budget by Charles County. Since our inception in June, 2002, we have provided more than $58.000.00 in funds to the Charles County Libraries.  

    C4CCPL recently provided funds for: 

·         Outreach Services Kits to use in programming to seniors.

·         Support of the pre-school storytimes at all three branch locations. 

·         Publicity for the library in Image magazine.

·         Expansion of the Spanish Collection at P. D. Brown Library.

·         Special expenses for transition to the new software system, SIRSI. 

·         Shelving units for P. D. Brown Branch Library in Waldorf. 

·         A large DVD storage unit at P .D. Brown Branch Library. 

·         Printing Bookmarks.

·         Six carts/book trucks.

·         Funding of student projects.

·         A Document/Image Scanner for each branch.

·         Funding for new CCPL website design.

·         Purchasing Spanish language instructional sets for Waldorf and Potomac Branches.

·         Expansion of the Books-on-CD collection at La Plata.

·         Printing promotional bookmarks for all branches.

·         T-shirts, prizes and special performances for  Summer Reading Programs each year. 

·         A Local Author Reading at Potomac Branch. 

·         Promotion and Advertising.

·         A new subscription to "Book Page" for all branches.  

·         Laminating Machines and Film.

·         A New Reference Desk for Potomac Branch Library, costing $14,065.07. 

·         READING ROAD TRIP 2007 Summer Reading T-Shirts, $3560.37.

You can RENEW MOST ITEMS you have checked out and save on late fees? 
You can renew in person, online or by telephone. 

Did You Know...
Your Charles County Public Library card is also good  in any library 
in Calvert and St. Mary's counties? 
You can also trade up (for free) to the MPOWER  library card, which can be registered in any county in Maryland.  This new card also has a handy snap-off portion to keep on your key ring. 
Just have a photo ID with your current address on it, or if your ID is out of date, also bring along a utility bill or official mail or current document that shows your name and proper address.   

Did You Know...
You can return your books or movies to any public library 
in Charles, Calvert, or St. Mary's counties? 
You don't need to take it back to the branch you got it from. 

Did You Know...
You can request books and movies online from other libraries 
and have them sent to your local branch library for pickup? 

Did You Know...
You are welcome to use the computers at any library branch for free.  
They have high speed internet and word processing and other software.  
If you have a valid library card and know your PIN number, you can log on yourself with no need to get permission.  You can also print out documents for a fee. 
 
Did You Know...
We now have DVD Express and Book Express? 
This is a duplicate group of the latest movies and books 
that cannot be requested or reserved. 
They could be waiting for you on our shelves right now! 
First come, first served.

The display cases in the Charles County Libraries are available at no charge 
to Charles County residents and Charles County non-profit organizations.

You can make a gift to be used for a particular purpose or for general support. 
If you prefer to remain anonymous, your wishes will be respected.

The Charles County Public Library also accepts funds 
to purchase new books in honor of, or in memory of, a loved one. 
A dedication bookplate will be placed in the front of  these books with appropriate wording.
